Lockheed Martin C-130H Hercules 346 - 3 Squadron - Amman Civil Airport

Unfortunately, for the first time in probably 10 years, I didn't get a chance to shoot the Jordanian Falcons at the air tattoo. With strong winds on Saturday, and more nasty weather following on Sunday, the Falcons never did display, which was gutting as they are always incredible supporters of the show. They did actually make it up on Sunday, performing a flypast with a Piper PA-28 from the Flying Scholarships for Disabled People, however, the heavy rain and view from Totterdown Park and View meant that it was a less-than-ideal time to be taking photos. And while I was on base for Monday's departures, the aircraft was at such an altitude by the time they reached Park and View West that it was once again less than ideal. I hope to see them back at next year's show!

Although a day later than intended, the UAE C-17 did make it in and out of Fairford on July 17th. Arriving at roughly 17:45, not long after the gates had shut, I had no option but to await its arrival from Marston Meysey crash gate, a place that I hoped would give a nice view of the Globemaster as it taxied past. Alas, this was not to be, as the C-17 proved its short landing capabilities and did a U-turn halfway down the runway. While disappointing, the opportunity to catch my last C-17 operator was too good to miss. Despite the circumstances, I'd like to think I came away with a not-half-bad photo of the aircraft. As is the norm with this hobby though, we spotters are always left wanting more, so I eagerly await my next opportunity to catch one of the UAEs 8 Globemasters. All being well, that chance may come next month...
