The Patriot Express

Since September 2022, the USAF has used a civilian carrier on a flight that is known as 'The Patriot Express', operating between Baltimore and RAF Mildenhall twice a month.

A variety of airlines and aircraft have operated this route, with Eastern Airways starting it in 2022 before National Airlines took over using their sole A330. Since these photos below were taken in April 2023, a mixture of airlines have once again been operating this route, most recently Eastern Airways with a Boeing 777 and Omni Air International with one of their Boeing 767s.

The Patriot Express is used for travel by those who are moving outside of the USA on military duties, those retiring from the US Military, and service members who are on leave. It also transports service members' families, including pets! Here is the link to find out more:

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for RAF Mildenhall states that on the days the Patriot Express arrives, the 727th Air Mobility Squadron will be unable to assist any other visiting aircraft with things such as mechanical handling equipment and movement of passengers or cargo.

Seen below is National Airlines A330 N819CA as CAMBER142 arriving into RAF Mildenhall from Baltimore on April 12th, 2023. It was originally scheduled for the 11th but problems with the jet delayed it 24 hours. Nationals livery is definitely a looker, and it really suits the A330.
